BALLET BOOT CAMP

Train with Purpose. Audition with Confidence.

For ages 7 and up, this 3 day mini intensive is designed to bridge the gap between the academic year and summer classes and to help prepare dancers for auditions. The boot camp will focus on body conditioning, non-syllabus ballet technique, pointe work (for students on pointe), stage presentation, quality of movement and audition tips. Dancers will have the opportunity to audition for the Michigan Ballet Company upon completion of the workshop.

Students will have the opportunity to train intensively with the directors of the Michigan Ballet Company while also expanding their movement vocabulary and technique, developing strong artistry, and learning the art of choreography. Dancers should have several years of ballet experience.

EVENT DETAILS

  • This focused three-day mini intensive is designed to bridge the gap between spring and summer training while preparing dancers for the season ahead—including upcoming audition opportunities.

    Led by the directors of the Michigan Ballet Company, this workshop will concentrate on:

    • Body conditioning and strength development

    • Non-syllabus ballet technique

    • Pointe work (for students currently en pointe)

    • Stage presence and quality of movement

    • Audition readiness and performance skills

    Students will deepen their artistry, expand their movement vocabulary, and explore choreographic development in an inspiring, professional environment.

    Dancers with several years of ballet training are encouraged to attend.
    At the conclusion of the workshop, eligible dancers will have the opportunity to audition for the Michigan Ballet Company, Michigan’s premier pre-professional ballet company.

    Instruction Includes:
    All levels will train in the following styles of dance (note that styles are subject to change):

    • Non-syllabus ballet technique

    • Ballet turning technique

    • pointe (where applicable)

    • Variations/Choreography

    Other Information: Tuition is non-refundable and due in full upon registration. Registration will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. No refunds or partial reimbursements will be given under any circumstance unless the camp is cancelled due to low enrollment. If camp becomes full, students will be placed on a waiting list and will be contacted if space becomes available.
