OFFICIAL TRAINING SCHOOL

Michigan Academy of Dance + Arts – Official Training School of the Michigan Ballet Company

“Celebrating over 50 Years of Excellence in Dance Education”

Michigan Ballet Company is proud to partner with Michigan Academy of Dance + Arts (formerly Ann Parsley School of Dance), the Official Training School of Michigan Ballet Company.

Founded in 1976, Michigan Academy of Dance + Arts has provided over 50 years of exceptional dance education, combining strong technical training with a supportive, non-competitive environment where dancers can grow as both artists and individuals. While MBC welcomes dancers from all studios, many company members receive their foundational training through MADA's comprehensive ballet program.

Together, MADA and MBC offer a unique pathway for aspiring dancers. Students benefit from outstanding ballet instruction while gaining valuable performance experience through full-length productions, master classes, workshops, and educational opportunities with Michigan Ballet Company.

Company dancers rehearse one to three times per week, depending on their level and casting. In addition to rehearsals, dancers are expected to maintain consistent ballet training throughout the year. All company members must demonstrate a strong technical foundation, dedication to their training, and a passion for ballet and performance.

Through the combined mission of Michigan Academy of Dance + Arts and Michigan Ballet Company, dancers are encouraged to develop the technique, artistry, discipline, and confidence necessary for success both on and off the stage.

    50 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

Trusted by families since 1976, MADA has a long-standing reputation for artistic excellence and technical integrity. Generations of dancers have started their training in our studios, and our legacy continues to grow as we celebrate 50 years of shaping young artists with passion and purpose.

    STRONG FOUNDATION

We believe that building a strong foundation is the key to developing capable, expressive, and confident dancers. Ballet is the cornerstone of all dance disciplines, and MADA offers one of the most comprehensive classical ballet programs in the region.

    NON-COMPETITIVE

Dedicated to providing quality dance instruction in a non-competitive environment, MADA values individual excellence over competitions or trophies. High technical standards are maintained and a joy of movement and sense of artistry are instilled through encouragement and positive reinforcement.

    PROFESSIONAL FACULTY

Our faculty is composed entirely of trained adult professionals. Beyond certification, many of our educators are active in the broader dance education community, training other teachers and preparing students and instructors for their own Cecchetti exams. This deep network of expertise ensures that every dancer at MADA receives thoughtful, consistent, and technically sound instruction.

MADA is proud to foster a family-oriented atmosphere where dancers of all ages feel welcome and valued. Music, costumes, and choreography are always age-appropriate and carefully selected to uphold our values of professionalism and respect.
